Why Fish Need Veterinary Care Too

Ich (White Spot Disease)

Caused by Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Ich presents as white granules on scales and fins. Treatment involves raising water temperature to 30°C and adding aquarium salt or formalin/malachite green treatment. Isolate affected fish immediately.

Bacterial and Fungal Infections

Fin rot (bacterial) appears as fraying or discolored fins. Fungal infections look like cotton wool patches on the body. Both require water quality correction plus antibiotic or antifungal treatment.
